The Curse Of Peladon is another audio book in the Doctor Who series.

May I present Princess Josephine…of TARDIS!’

The TARDIS arrives on the storm-lashed planet of Peladon, just as it is being assessed for its suitability to join the Galactic Federation.

Mistaken for Federation delegates from Earth, the Doctor and Jo become involved in a series of dramatic events at the conference.

King Peladon’s Chancellor has died in mysterious circumstances, and his High Priest is vehemently opposed to the Federation’s advances.

Amongst the other delegates are hermaphrodite hexapod Alpha Centauri, half-automaton Arcturus, and two Ice Warriors – whose species the Doctor knows as old adversaries. Confined together in the Citadel, they struggle to counter myth and superstition with logic and reason.

Is the Curse of Peladon about to strike those who form a union with the Federation? Has the Royal beast Aggedor risen to defend the planet’s independence? And could one of the delegates actually be working to double-cross the others?

Posted in audio books, audiobook, Doctor Who, iPod, Sci-Fi tagged , , , at 4:23 pm by audiolibra

Doctor Who – The Power of the Daleks is an audio book published by BBC Audiobooks Ltd.

The first doctor becomes the second in this exclusive recording of Doctor Who‘s original regeneration story, starring Patrick Troughton with linking narration by Anneke Wills

‘ I’ve been renewed… without it I couldn’t survive .’

Before the astonished eyes of his companions Ben and Polly, the Doctor’s whole body has apparently been transformed. Now they are confronted by a stranger who claims to be their old friend – but how can they know whether to trust him?

The Tardis’s arrival on the swamp planet of Vulcan brings its own problems; the Doctor is mistaken for an official come to solve the Earth colony’s in-fighting, and soon he and his companions are embroiled in political wranglings. However, a far more serious threat lurks within the colony. The scientist Lesterson has discovered a crashed space capsule, within it a group of inert metallic creatures which the Doctor identifies as Daleks. Refusing to heed the Doctor’s warnings, Lesterson supplies power to the Daleks and revives them.

The awakened Daleks claim to be faithful servants of humanity – but could such a thing ever be possible? By covert means they seek an increasing level of energy, but for what? By the time the Doctor and his friends discover the Daleks’ true plan for the colony, it looks as if it might already be too late to stop them…

Anneke Wills , who plays Polly in the story, narrates this debut story for the second Doctor, Patrick Troughton , first broadcast in 1966 and long since missing from the television archives.

Doctor Who – Space Pirates Audio Book

Doctor Who – Space Pirates published by BBC Audiobooks Ltd.

“We’ve landed ourselves in the middle of some sort of war in Space!”

The Doctor, Jamie and Zoe become victims of piracy when they materialise on a space beacon, minutes before it is literally blown to pieces. So begins their quest to be reunited with the TARDIS, whilst treading perilously across the paths of the Interstella Space Corps and a gang of murderous bandits.

The eccentric prospector Milo Clancey gives the travellers passage in his ageing spaceship but the old man is himself the focus of Space Corps investigations. Could he possibly be behind the destruction and salvage of so many beacons in the sector? What is the position of Madeleine Issigri, who runs her father’s mining corporation or the planet Ta – and how might a locked room provide the answer to this mystery?

Half the galaxy is spanned in a game of cat and mouse between the law enforcers – led by no-nonsense General Hermack and his V-Ship crew – and the pirates Caven and Dervish, who will apparently stop at nothing to continue their lucrative racket.

This six-part adventure, brimming with visions of space travel in the 21st century, offers excitement on a grand scale and was the penultimate story of the second Doctor’s TV era.
